The Evolution Of Calligraphy
Islamic calligraphy is the artistic practice of Arabic handwriting missed with calligraphy. It is based upon the Arabic alphabets in the lands sharing a common islamic cultural heritage. It includes Arabic, Ottoman and Persian calligraphy. It is known in Arabic as khan Islamic (خط اسلامي), which means Islamic line, construction or design. Islamic calligraphy is so beautiful. It is noteworthy, for instance, the Prophet Muhammad said: "The first thing God created was the pen." As Islamic calligraphy is highly venerated, most works follow examples set by well established calligraphers, with the exception of secular or contemporary works. There are many specific techniques when it comes to islamic calligraphy. Some artist write on paper but first they dye and coat it with starch and subsequently varnished and with several coats of ahar (its a liquid composed of egg whites mixed with alum). This coated paper are highly burnished, using a agate burnish stone and then aged for at least a year. Some artist make there own black ink from soot produced by burning linseed oil and kerosene. Islamic calligraphy is all around mosques and its even in the Quran, mainly on the first page of the Quran, and its so beautiful. Soon artist making calligrams around animals, the outline of the animal is made with the Arabic alphabets, sometime it would form an important message, or just a sweet quote. There is so many supplies that you could use for calligraphy there is a pen called Kamish, Bamboo, java, handam, Celi and Kelani. Islamic and Arabic calligraphy has evaluated so much through out the years, at first it started as a few sentences then it turned into animals .
